For Signature Theatre’s Tony Award-winning Golden Child, Hochi Asiatico hand painted these robes, designed by Anita Yavich, to recreate the look of delicately embroidered Chinese silk. To inspire his art, he referenced each costume’s “bible”—a binder filled with reference images, photographs, and fabric samples.

Each robe took about two weeks to paint by hand.
